World Ideas

Well, for the world i have in mind, I'm thinking FF9ish. There is technology, but still magic and fantasy abounds. The only two for sure races at the moment would be the Imortans and Humans. Humans are self explanatory, but Imortans are something interesting. Imortans are immortal from all natural form of death, i.e. old age, fatal illness, fatal wound, etc. They can only be killed through unnatural means like shooting them, drowning them, killing them with a sword, etc. But like I said earlier, it can't just be a fatal wound. You have to finish the job and kill them then and there. If it's just a fatal wound, given time, they will recover from it. There is a certain staple in Imortan society, that of exile. When an Imortan is punished with exile, they are robbed of all memories and sent to an isolate island. On this island there is a great beast that feeds on the Imortans. Very few Imortans ever leave Imortan land for anything besides war. Because of their immortality, Imortans believe they are the oldest race, and at one time were most in tune with the planet. However, as they became more industrial, they developed mental blocks to this link. When an Imortan leaves their homeland for too long, the mental block deteriorates and they begin to hear the voices of the souls of all things, living and non-living. Imortans are very capable of using magic. Humans are not capable of using magic unless they are one of the few born adepts and are trained to use magic. In this world, there are two forms of forbidden magic. They have been forbidden for so long they are mostly forgotten. They first is known as Pure Magic. Pure Magic deals with life. This includes healing spells and revival spells. This magic is forbidden because it draws on one's own soul for it's power. Normal magic only relies on one's mana reserves. Only a god can resurrect someone without consequence, any other being would have to give their soul for it. The other form is Dark, or Black Magic. This is magic that deals with death, in several forms: dark summonings(i.e. demons), instant death spells, reanimating the dead, well basically necromancy. This magic draws it's power from the planet itself. It draws it's power directly from it, and kills what was drawn from. In a time many many years ago when peace reigned, the races that could use magic ruled these two forms as forbidden.

Character Ideas I

My first character idea is that of an Imortan. She has long flowing brown hair, and striking gold eyes. This is a feature most Imortans have. They have either gold, purple, or silvery white eyes. She was, however, exiled. For reasons she cannot remember, on account of being unconscious during the time, she was saved from the beast and the island. She now wonders the land trying to regain her memory. She also has the mysterious ability to use the long forgotten and forbidden power of Pure Magic. She is a sweet and innocent person, caring more for others than she does for herself. She also carries a pistol, that even though she knows nothing about it, she refuses to let it go, even though she never uses it herself.

Character Ideas II

My second character idea is still very much in planning. I know it will be a female and of some kind of animal race. I also know that she will be a dragon knight, or dragoon if you prefer. She is very tough, but can also be very soft when needed. She has a dark past she keeps well hidden. This past is also the reason why she explores the world outside her homeland, for she was banished. Whether or not she will ever be able to return, and on what conditions is unknown.
